About this policy
Almost Dreams is provided by Alexander Rysev, operating as Almost Apps. Contact almostappsup@gmail.com for privacy questions or requests. This policy explains the iOS app and the optional services it uses.
Your library stays on your device by default
No Almost Dreams account is required. Recordings, transcripts, dream memories, profile details, characters, selected photos, dream artwork and collections are stored locally. The app protects its library using encryption and iOS file protection. The protected library is excluded from device backups by the app; it is not an online backup or a synchronized library. Uninstalling the app or losing the device can mean losing this content. You can export content yourself; exported copies are under your control and the rules of the destination you choose.
Recording and voice references
The microphone is used after you choose to record. A night session records audio; it does not read thoughts or establish what you dreamed. Record only where you have permission, including from other people who may be recorded. Voice enrollment processes samples on the device, stores local voice reference vectors and removes temporary enrollment recordings. Voice similarity is an uncertain aid, not proof of identity. You can remove the voice reference in the app.
On-device processing and Apple Health
Where supported, Apple speech recognition and Apple Foundation Models prepare content on the device. Local failure does not silently authorize a cloud upload. Optional Apple Health access reads sleep information for local context and source comparison. The app does not send HealthKit sleep records or voice reference vectors to OpenAI or RevenueCat, and does not use HealthKit data for advertising. You can manage microphone, speech and Health permissions in iOS settings. Wake alarms are scheduled only through the app's alarm controls.
Optional cloud AI
Cloud processing requires your permission. Depending on the option you authorize, the Almost Dreams relay sends selected audio for transcription, text for story preparation, or scene descriptions for image generation to OpenAI. Optional profile or character text is included only when selected for the request. Selected profile and character photos remain local. Avoid including information about others that you do not have permission to share.
The relay temporarily processes and stores requests and results so they can be delivered to the app. It removes active content after the app confirms local saving. If the device does not return, unfinished requests expire after 24 hours and completed results after seven days, subject to an in-progress processing lease. This deletion schedule concerns the active service database, not a promise of immediate erasure from provider security logs or infrastructure backups. OpenAI and infrastructure providers may retain data under their own policies. We do not promise zero retention. See OpenAI's business data information and privacy policy.
Purchases and technical identifiers
Apple processes payments; we do not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat manages anonymous purchase records, subscription status and purchase reporting. The relay uses a generated installation identifier/key, verified transaction identifiers, product details, balances, usage and refund records to authorize service and prevent fraud. No Almost Dreams login is required, but these technical records can distinguish an installation or purchase. Recordings, transcripts and dream artwork are not sent to RevenueCat. Technical service records are retained as needed to operate purchases, prevent duplicate grants, handle refunds, secure the service and meet legal obligations. Removing local dreams does not erase Apple's transaction records or automatically cancel a subscription.
Hosting, support and sharing
The AI relay is hosted on Render. The publisher website uses Cloudflare; hosting services process network information such as IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and protect their services. If you email support, we receive your email address and anything you include, and use it to respond. Do not send private recordings unless you choose to disclose them. Content you export or share goes to the destination you choose. Service providers may process information outside your country.
Purposes and your choices
We use information to provide requested features, fulfill purchases, personalize an explicitly selected generation request, respond to support, protect the service and comply with obligations. The app contains no advertising SDK and does not use dream content for advertising or cross-app advertising tracking. Where applicable, processing relies on providing the requested service, your permission for optional features, legitimate interests in security and support, or legal obligations. You may withdraw optional permissions for future processing, delete local content, and contact us about access, correction or deletion of service records. We may need limited information to locate an anonymous installation or transaction; do not send passwords or private keys. Applicable law may provide additional rights, including complaints to a data protection authority.
Children and changes
Almost Dreams is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child supplied information to our services, contact us. We may update this policy as features or services change; the date above identifies the current version.
